I am an ultimate fan of Star Wars and this is the icing on the cake!!! It’s waaaaaay better than revenge of the sith!!! I do wish that it was longer but other than that BRAVO! Way better then whatever j.j ruined 😍

Darth Vader Lord Of The Sith 2021-03-16
PROS 1. Darth Vader scenes were awesome! CONS 1. The best part of the whole movie was the ending 2. The Plot 3. The Characters 4. It took forever to blow up Jedha & Scarif. 5. What’s with the squid creature? 6. Death Troopers were pointless Overall, It’s a good movie; but it’s not a Star Wars film. The most important thing about a Star Wars film, is the characters as well as the plot. Instead of the lame characters like Rogue One & Krennic; I would’ve made Leia, the alliance, Tarkin , and Vader the main Characters. Because watching this before the Original Trilogy is pointless.

The originals are the best 2021-03-11
Ok this movie is ok. The reason why I say that is that Darth Vader is in it!! Other then that this movie is bad. We need more Luke and Vader. This movie is a let down.

Wow. Such an amazing masterpiece of a movie. I love this, and it is one of the best movies in the Star Wars Skywalker Saga I have ever seen. Me and my family are in awe of this movie and all the promise it showed. A great movie with an amazing storyline that keeps you interested and locked in. Also, Michael Giacchino does a great job doing the soundtrack of this movie. 😍😍😍

The mindset of the producers and director was more than just perverse. It showed absolutely no comprehension of the heart of the entire Star Wars universe. You form a connection with one character after another and you root for every one, but what you are left with is a series of disappontments. All this movie is about is filling in the blank about everyone who died to get the Death Star plans to Leia. PERIOD. It is an enormous downer, just enormous.

The exciting breakthrough in this film is that the filmmakers are allowed to toy around with traditional star wars fandoms, such as after we see the traditional “long time ago” slogan on the screen, we happen to not get the usual star wars title pomp & circumstances. This is just the beginning, Rogue One is not the first spinoff of the star wars franchise but its the first to have the confidence to deliver beyond par level. The Actors all perform deep, emotional characters who all come from dark places in their lives but are brave enough to risk it all despite having nothing to loose, and the dialogue amongst each character is so inspiring that it makes us truly build an attachment toward each character. The Story opens with a family maiden named “erso” a father named Galen played by (Mads Mikkelson) and his wife who have a daughter named jyn, voiced by the new (Felicity Jones) they are living in exile on a farm land till they are found by who is the lead worker for the soon to be operational Death Star. The name is director Kreenic voiced by (Ben Mendelhson) who is trying to recruit Galen to work with him on the new station. The reasoning is described in strong words “your confusing peace with terror” this is a solid touch of dialogue that gives the plot plenty or strength to keep us in the loop start to finish. Kreenic takes Galen hostage but cant find the hiding daughter Jyn who is found years later by a message man named Saw Gerrera played by “Forest Whitaker” who seems like he has asthma due to the fact he’s constantly breathing through a tube and has a voice that barely has oxygen. Jyn is soon grown up and kept off the grid by Gerrera, her biggest challenge? Convincing even the rebels that she isn’t a villain due to the fact her father is responsible for building the “Star”. Eventually the word gets out about the capability of the weapon, and soon a holographic message from Galen himself is presented to Jyn, who informs her to spread the word about the “weakness” in the star, by damaging a reactor to blow it up, those who are familiar with the famed original would get the point. Jyn is soon paired up with 2 companions, a robot named K-2S0, and a rebel named Cassian (Diego Luna) who set off to find answers on how to combat the Death Star. The robot is for once not annoying or obnoxious, not throwing shade on C3P0 but this cyborg has humor & wit, one thing that was lacking in a non human being. Meanwhile Kreenic is trying to please a fan base for being the main contributor to the stars construction, he is poised to demonstrate the weapon by destroying a city. General Moff Tarkin who was in the original Star Wars, is represented about 40 years later by almost an exact lookalike, the actor name is disclosed but i find it very impressive how you can find a random actor to play a character who looks so alike its scary but fascinating. Theres a stellar sequence when the Galen message is being delivered, the star positions itself to destroy a city where Jyn is and to even create an eclipse, the explosion is more in an upward motion, the ground slowly rises as if a volcano was erupting from underneath and its fascinating to watch. The climax is taken place in the end where the rebels set off to get the Death Star plans stored in a facility on a beach planet called Scareth. A couple battle sequences take place and it is awesome to watch, the movie has great special effects and amazing visuals the camerawork makes the film feel as authentic as its characters. This is also a better film than 2015’s Force Awakens, This one has more to offer, the characters are all inspiring and the story has originality which was the lackluster from “Force” this isn't about heroism but “a rebellion being built on hope” which is the movies main strength. We get the hint at what happens in the end to the characters because this leads directly to the original and we even get a reappearance from Darth Vader and yes James Earl-Jones voices. Overall A very powerful film, dark and deep, and is not afraid to throw away characters we feel deeply attached to, thats the kind of screenplay that never fails because in the end, the audience still feels a reason to cheer with awe.

For once Disney you are FANTASTIC Gimme more of this goody goody candy. Admittedly I was heartbroken in the end. And I would’ve liked more Vader scenes—I also think there should’ve been a hologram of the Emperor or something being like “Do not fail me!” I also think that Krennic should’ve been killed by Vader or Palpatine for failing instead of being blown up. But this is more like Star Wars; I just wanted more Sith scenes! One thing is that you either love it or hate it (unless you’re me, I guess). My dad loves it, my brother hates it, and my mom doesn’t really care enough about Star Wars to cast a vote. My complaint is character development; who is this Guerra guy? Why was Jyn a prisoner? There is zero backstory and it irks me a little. But seriously go see it! It’s not gonna give you new stories if that’s what your hoping; it’ll be a twist on what you already kinda know—and while you know how it’s gonna end, you still bite your nails all the way through! (If your me)

I kind wish they did not die at the end because they could of added more moves with them in it but get it they probably couldn’t handle all the new characters and then all the other characters in Rogue one but just saying I LOVE the movie

Gerbils4cats 2020-11-08
I loved this movie and cherished the story with every inch of me. I was able to see it in theaters when it first came out and I really felt Star Wars in this film. It tied in a great story that put things together and I could really touch the characters because of how close I felt to the way they acted. The acting was exceptionally excellent and the music score was fantastic! Another composer to remember! Michael Giacchino is good at what he does and is really good at making sad music, which was also peaceful going along with the movie. *Sigh* If only Star Wars and Disney were still this good at making films. As sad as it is, Disney is failing.

The recent trilogy of sequels were definitely superior to the prequels, but if they had all been more like Rogue One, the Star Wars universe would be richer for it. While the sequels took a fan-servicing retread approach, overall Rogue One seems a lot fresher, free of the main story baggage. I haven’t felt compelled to rewatch any of the sequels in the final trilogy, but I’ve re-watched Rogue One twice already.

Amazing movie! This may be my favorite Star Wars movie and I was in the theater on opening day for New Hope. Great acting, gritty, and still fun. Loved it! Better than the last Jedi! I have decided this is top 10 movie ever for me.

Great plot. Great characters. Especially liked the rogue android. He was the comedic relief. The blind dude was funny. All around the best Star Wars since episode 1 (just kidding). 😃

The prequel everyone’s wanted!! The rebel fleet has a ton of appearances and that’s awesome, along with the fight scenes and a lot of cool stuff about how the Death Star was built and all.

Wow. This movie actually got me in to SW. Even though every character died, It’s still amazing. Darth Vader in the fortress absolutely going off scene is incredible. I’d give it a 9.2/10

As a movie on its own it's fine, but it is not Star Wars. It's too downbeat and pretentious to earn that distinction. It's fine that people are responding to this movie and is an answer to their desire to have a movie match their sensibilities, but to really consider what a complete mismatch this movie is to the REAL saga, consider how ill fit this movie is to episode IV. It also is filled with significant plot holes. Technically well made with superior production values, but Star Wars has never been so depressing. And taking into account the rather bleak fate and setting its hilarious that they're selling toys for this movie. Come on kids, let's re-enact mass slaughter and a bunch of tragic death scenes. Yay.

Dark but flawless entertainment but this star wars movie is going for a war film which is pretty dumb and pointless this is not a star wars movie it's george lucas giving a message to carrie fisher.

StoryDelver 2020-04-04
What a pointless, joyless, piece of ... film. The ending trashes all enjoyment of the whole movie. What a way to destroy a great story--meet interesting characters, get to know and like them, watch them ALL die. Where's the fun? This is NOT Star Wars.

plauge inc 2020-04-01
Read the title. Haters are like “ But we know what happens next it’s pointless” THIS IS A FILLER MOVIE. It’s not supposed to freakin give any suspense to what happens next. The rest is just whiny fanboys who can’t accept anyone but Han Luke or Leia leading the screen and just nitpicking every little thing. Get over it. It’s better than the sequels.

After my rewatch, I can confirm that this film is great! Fantastic acting all around, gorgeous visuals and a much darker tone this time! The fight between the rebels and the empire is better and more realistically realized here, also most the characters are... good... the best ones are definitely Krennic and K-2SO. The finale is also really great. Okay, bad part The beginning of this movie drags on a bit, Darth Vader’s first scene feels kinda empty and Jen isn’t very interesting. Overall a really great movie and one of Star Wars’s best! 8/10

IW: Everyone dies (not really)because they need too stop a purple guy from stealing rocks (i’m a huge marvel fan) RO: Everyone dies (gruesomely) because they need too stop an iconic space station controlled by freaking satan himself from destroying a whole planet (i grew up on prequels so i’m not a fan)

Great movie but it’s depressing they all die

Rogue one is Hands down One of the best Star wars films ever made and even though the film that came two years after it, that being Solo preformed poorly at the box office, I think more standalone films like Solo and Rouge one should be made regardless of what The so-called “fans” think. Sure Disney CEO Bob Iger has said in a interview that quote: “There didn’t seem like there was that much demand for another Standalone’Star Wars’ movie after Solo” end quote. But what Mr Iger clearly doesn’t see os that this movie, Rouge one (the Very first standalone Star wars movie) has made 1.056 billion US dollars and has proven that there is a demand for Standalone Star Wars movies! Yes Solo made less money, but do you know why it made less money? Because it came out just five months after Ep.8 The Last Jedi and because of that a lot of people were turned off from all things SW and just couldn’t come to terms with Solo because of how dad Last Jedi was, in conclusion Lucasfilm/Disney really should make more Standalone SW movies, wether they be released theatrically or put on Disney Plus, I think SW Standalone films have potential to be on the same pedestals as all the main SW movies!

ilistentomusic(obviously) 2019-09-02
This was amazing. It sure was different, but that was the point. Excellent acting, astounding visual effects and memorable music. The script was a little flat in some parts though.

MC Joyful 2019-08-31
I’m sorry I love this movie, but at the end of the day ,we still don’t know these characters except Jyn Erso. It was very entertaining with great special effects and a Darth Vader scene that felt like it was pulled from the good Star Wars video games epic! However, judging by those qualities makes a very great film but I just like “Solo” a little bit more because the characters were more interesting! Solo is actually a great film like Rogue One! If Force Awakens had been a flop, “Rogue One”would have been received by the audience like “Solo” was! Last Jedi was not a bad movie in fact far from it! The risks it took were phenomenal and I was happy we didn’t get a tired Star Wars formula!

Sharpsticks 2019-08-26
Credit where credit is due, Rogue One is a gorgeous looking movie. Other than some minor nitpicks, like the Stormtrooper's sounding inccorrect and Darth Vader's terrible dialogue everything looks and feels accurate to the original films. HOWEVER, RO is a boring, heartless, slog that lacks any reason to care about asingle one of the characters except the kind-of-fun spy droid. There are so many scenes where characters are talking on and on and nothing they say has any impact because the direction is bad or because the urgency is told instead of shown. The movie is especially bad because it wastes incredible actors like Donnie Yen, and Mads Mikkelsen. The film is chock-full of cool visuals but the acting was bad, the writing was terrible, and the pacing is god-awful. Watch for the capes and the cool Vader scene at the end, and forget you saw anything else. And then watch Solo because it's 1000x better.

I always wanted to know how they got the plans for the deathstar since i was a child when i first saw this movie in 1977 now i know great movie!!!!!!The best star wars movie ever!!!!!!!!!

MovieCritic779 2019-07-08
Though this is probably the only decent Star Wars film by Disney, this film is obviously another cash grab that is totally unnecessary, if not boring.

all_the_good_nicks_are_taken 2019-06-05
The first two-thirds drag, laden with wooden acting, mediocre writing, and clumsy exposition. The last third is pure awesome.

I did not realize I needed a ground level view of an AT-AT. Now I can never forget it. Neither journeying with such memorable characters.

This movie is incredible. Very beautifully made. I can’t stop myself from watching it over and over again. Was it better than Revenge of the Sith? No. The story of ROTS was way better. But for a side story with a better director. This was a very good movie

All you need to know before you watch this is...Darth Vader crushes it! This movie looks like Star Wars, feels like Star Wars, tastes like Star Wars, and it is Star Wars at its best!

Alden Solo 2019-03-12
Disney made the right choice handing the keys to Gareth Edwards. It gives you a thrilling, action packed story and the ending makes you wanna watch A New Hope. All the actors are incredible. Felicity Jones should have gotten an Academy Award for her performance. And the script is among the best I’ve seen in a long time. And I loved what Lucasfilm did with the digital face-matching. Tarkin was most impressive indeed, as was Leia. A+++++++. If you haven’t seen this yet, what are you waiting for?!
